Le P'tit Troquet: Reviews & Ratings

We wanted to find a decent restaurant that wasn't a tourist trap. This fit the bill. We went for lunch. We shared one appetizer chestnut veloute. This was quite unique. I don't think I would want an entire bowl to myself, but it was something different and I am glad to have tasted it. For the entrees we had the scallops, stuffed cabbage and beef bourguignon. The scallops were cooked well, and had a dill beurre blanc sauce that I would have been happy sipping like a nice wine. They were paired with lentils (which are never my favorite). The beef bourguignon was good, but I make Julia Child's recipe at home and I preferred my beef bourguignon. The stuffed cabbage was as good as you would expect stuffed cabbage to be. For dessert we had the Rhum Baba and pavlova. They brought me an entire bottle of Rum to the table for the Rhum Baba (I didn't use any more than they had already put on the dish). I'm not a fan of really boozy desserts. The pavlova was tasty. The place maybe had 8 tables. It was quiet, off the beaten path and a nice place to rest for a bit.

We've sworn off the culinary performance art—those 'hip' spots where the aesthetic effort vastly outweighs the taste payoff. Our rescue lay in returning to traditional French restaurants serving nongimmickly yet dependably sublime meals. And this place is a great example. You will find dishes that look reliably classic. Yet, the taste is anything but predictable. It's enveloping richness, with aroma, taste, and texture dancing in perfect, delicious harmony. The egg with mushroom and the seared scallops are flawlessly, exceptionally executed classics. They will make you go back for more.

We had dinner at outdoor table without reservation. Indoor is small and looks great and cozy, but all reserved. I would strongly recommend reservation to get indoor table, which looked much better. The server was very friendly and recommended to taste a couple of wines. All dishes were great. They offer kids portions, the bass dish was for kids.

Nestled in the heart of Paris just a stone's throw from the Eiffel Tower, Le P'tit Troquet offers a quiet haven for those seeking authentic French cuisine away from the usual tourist crowds. This intimate bistro, tucked along Rue de l'Exposition, invites diners into a cozy space that feels both timeless and welcoming. With fewer than ten tables inside, the atmosphere is one of calm and charm, where each meal becomes a personal celebration of classic French flavors.

The culinary approach at Le P'tit Troquet is refreshingly traditional yet elevated. Here, French classics are executed with precision and care that deliver not just taste, but texture and aroma in perfect harmony. The scallops with dill beurre blanc sauce stand out as sublime—each bite rich and delicate, balanced by subtle lentils that add earthiness without overpowering the dish. Equally memorable is the chestnut velouté appetizer, a unique and daring choice that surprises the palate with its creamy warmth and hint of autumn.

The boeuf bourguignon, a staple of French kitchens, is served lovingly rich and comforting, though it invites comparison to home-cooked versions—an indication of the emotional connection diners bring to the table. The stuffed cabbage offers the expected hearty satisfaction, while the roasted free-range guinea fowl reveals a tender, flavorful mastery worth savoring. For those who appreciate thoughtful desserts, the Rhum Baba and delicate pavlova offer joyful endings, with generous touches like an entire bottle of rum brought to the table enhancing the experience without overwhelming.

Beyond the food, the service at Le P'tit Troquet elevates the dining experience. Warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, the staff guide guests through the wine list and dishes with genuine care. Camille’s warm welcome and professionalism have earned special praise, reflecting a commitment to hospitality that makes every visit feel like a personal occasion.

Le P'tit Troquet is a rare gem where authenticity, simplicity, and elegance converge. It moves beyond mere nostalgia for traditional French fare, offering instead a vibrant celebration of culinary craftsmanship nestled within Parisian charm. For locals and visitors alike, this is a place to return to—where every dish promises a deep connection to the richness of French gastronomy in an intimate and unpretentious setting.
